You all everybody – I have exciting news! We officially have a new name for our events – The LOST Con. The name is a play on one of the show’s episodes called “The Long Con.”
So after three years, why the change?
When Jo and Erin first came up with the idea for LOST 2014, it was meant to be a one-time event for fans to gather in Hawaii to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show’s premiere. We had such a great time, I knew we had to go back in 2020 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show’s finale. But almost as soon as we returned home – there was a lot of discussion that six years was too long for us to all go back. And thus LOST 2017 was born.
But even still, I’ve heard from a lot of LOSTies that three years is too far apart. And I agree! But there’s good cause. Just a few of the reasons:
- It’s costly to get to Hawaii and going annually just isn’t feasible.
- LOST 2014 was a three-day event and LOST 2017 is a four-day event; they take quite a bit of time to plan and execute.
- We want Cancer Gets LOST to be a part of this event for as long as they would like to be. The longer we can give them time to get items for an on-site charity auction, the better.
So with these events being every three years, how could we do something in-between? Something that would be somewhat easier to get to and less costly?
This won’t be a massive scale event (and they won’t interfere with other cons). We will have cast and you can meet them – but equally important will be the fan gathering aspect. The opportunity for you to connect and socialize with other LOSTies. This was the driving force behind LOST 2014 – community. It’s our core value and will remain! It will be like LOST 2014, but condensed into one day.
The first Con won’t be until 2018 – and the location will be stateside. I am looking for staff – so if you’re interested, drop me a note! More details to come.
But for now, stay tuned for The LOST Con presents LOST 2017! Registration will be opening two months early – in July 2016!
Namaste and Mahalo,
